Don’t ever waste a breath of life.

Live your life. Live your pain. Don’t ever waste a breath of life.

Breath of Life arrives like a sunrise over an open road — a song about living in the moment and never taking life for granted, about the gift tucked inside every single second we are given. The production took its cue from The 1975 — “They’ve got a really cool sound that I really, really like. That’s where we headed in the direction of the production.” And if you love their colour and flavour, or the soaring pop of Savage Garden, or the wide-eyed wonder of Owl City, this one will feel like home.

Greg Fitzgerald — an exceptional lyricist and songwriter, and a producer with a vivid, colourful sensibility — shaped the song from the ground up, lyric and sound developing together, each informing the other. Franklin went back to the studio to recut the vocal, because a song isn’t truly finished until there’s nothing left to give to it, until it just feels right. The artwork is a photo he snapped one early morning in January 2020 at the ranch in Death Valley, the dawn sky doing all the talking. It debuted at #50 on Billboard Christian Airplay and peaked at #45.
